What is DopplGrid?
DopplGrid is a facial-recognition network that helps you find people who look like you — your doppelganger, twin stranger, or lookalike, whichever term you use — anywhere on the network, and see where photos of you have been uploaded by others. It's built around secure face-mapping technology, not manual searching or guessing from photos.
What's the difference between a doppelganger, a twin stranger, and a lookalike?
In everyday use, they mean the same thing — someone who resembles you closely enough to be mistaken for you, with no family relation required. "Doppelganger" and "twin stranger" both specifically emphasize that there's no genetic connection at all, just coincidental facial similarity. How does the doppelganger matching actually work?
When you enroll, DopplGrid creates a mathematical "face-map" from a short guided scan — not a stored photo, a set of measurements unique to your face. That face-map is compared against everyone else who has enrolled, and anyone scoring above a similarity threshold shows up as a match on your Doppelgangers list, ranked by how close the score is.
Is my face data safe?
Face data is only ever used for the matching purpose you signed up for. A detected face that doesn't resemble anyone currently registered is discarded immediately, not stored. You can permanently delete your account and biometric data at any time from inside the app. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
How do I find myself in photos someone else uploaded?
Tap "Find Yourself" any time. DopplGrid searches for your face among photos other people have uploaded to the network and shows you anything that matches — the results are yours alone. Nobody else is told you appear in a photo unless you go looking and confirm it yourself; DopplGrid never identifies you to someone else automatically.
Can I compare my similarity with friends or family?
Yes. Once you're both enrolled, DopplGrid can show a direct similarity score between you and any friend or family member on the network — a fun way to settle "do we actually look alike?" arguments with real numbers instead of opinions.
Is DopplGrid free?
Yes, DopplGrid is free to use on Android, on the web, and soon on iOS. Enrolling your face, searching for lookalikes, and finding yourself in photos don't require any payment.
What platforms is DopplGrid available on?
DopplGrid is available on Google Play for Android, and directly here on the web at dopplgrid.com — no installation needed. An iOS version is currently in development.
How do I delete my account and my data?
You can permanently delete your account, your photos, and your biometric face data from the Settings screen inside the app at any time. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
