DöpplGrid
1. Acceptance & Age Restriction. DöpplGrid is a service operated by DopplGrid Technologies Inc. ("DöpplGrid", "we", "us"). By accessing DöpplGrid, you agree to these Terms. You must be at least 16 years of age to use this service, create an account, or submit any biometric identifiers. Accounts found belonging to individuals under 16 will be immediately terminated.
2. Zero Tolerance UGC Policy. You strictly agree not to upload copyrighted material, illegal content, or images captured where individuals have a reasonable expectation of privacy. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content. Any upload containing nudity, pornography, extreme violence, or harassment will result in an immediate, permanent ban without appeal.
3. Public Media Visibility. To ensure the functionality of the matching engine, all photos uploaded remain visible to all users across the network. Setting your profile to "Private" hides personal identity details (Bio, Location, Grid), but media remains public to allow others to find their memories. If you do not want a photo to be public, you must not upload it, or you must delete it from the platform.
4. Indemnification. You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DöpplGrid, its founders, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, and legal fees arising from your use of the service, your uploaded content, or your violation of any third-party rights, including privacy, intellectual property, and biometric rights.
5. Limitation of Liability. DöpplGrid is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DöpplGrid shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the service. Except where prohibited by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100.00), or (b) the total amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim giving rise to the liability. This limitation does not apply to, and does not waive or limit, any statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be waived or limited, including rights arising under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) or other applicable biometric or consumer privacy statutes.
6. Dispute Resolution, Arbitration & Class Action Waiver (US & Canada). Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be resolved through binding, individual arbitration rather than in court, except for disputes involving non-waivable statutory claims (including claims under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA)) that applicable law does not permit to be arbitrated or waived. For US users, this arbitration agreement is made pursuant to a transaction involving interstate commerce and shall be governed by the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA). You and DöpplGrid agree to waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class-action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration, to the extent permitted by applicable law. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing privacy@dopplgrid.com within thirty (30) days of first creating your account, stating your intent to opt out of arbitration; if you opt out, this arbitration and class-action-waiver provision will not apply to you, and disputes will instead be resolved under the governing law and venue otherwise applicable to these Terms.
1. Information Collection & Biometric Processing. DöpplGrid is operated by DopplGrid Technologies Inc. We collect basic account details and, with your explicit consent, biometric identifiers derived from photos you upload or interact with. These embeddings are mathematical codes (facial geometry), not raw facial images, and are used exclusively to provide the matching functionality.
2. BIPA & State Biometric Law Compliance (Written Release). For users residing in Illinois (BIPA), Texas (CUBI), Washington, and other applicable jurisdictions: By creating an account and enrolling your face, you are providing a written release and explicit consent for DöpplGrid to collect, capture, purchase, receive through trade, or otherwise obtain your biometric identifiers or biometric information. You acknowledge that this data is collected solely for the purpose of the facial recognition network and doppelgänger matching. DöpplGrid strictly prohibits the sale, lease, trade, or profiting from your biometric data.
3. Data Retention & Destruction. Biometric identifiers are securely hashed and stored in our Biometric Vault. This data is retained only for as long as you maintain an active account. If you delete your account, your biometric identifiers and associated vectors are permanently and irreversibly destroyed from our active databases within 24 hours, and from all backups within 30 days, in accordance with applicable laws.
4. Security & Encryption. Your biometric data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We use industry-standard security protocols to protect your identity. However, no digital transmission is 100% secure, and you use the service at your own risk.
5. Third-Party Sharing. We do not sell or share your biometric data with third-party advertisers or marketers. Data is only processed through our secure internal algorithms and strictly audited infrastructure providers (Google Cloud / Firebase), including Google Cloud Vision API, which we use to automatically screen uploaded photos for prohibited content (see Section 2 of our Terms of Service), who are legally bound to protect this data.
6. Contact & Data Subject Rights. If you wish to request a copy of your data, or request permanent deletion under GDPR or CCPA, you can delete your account directly through the app settings or contact our privacy team at privacy@dopplgrid.com.
7. Photo Scanning & Self-Initiated Discovery. When a photo is uploaded to DöpplGrid, our systems may automatically detect the presence and location of faces within that image for processing purposes. We do not automatically identify, tag, link, or notify any individual as a result of another user's upload. If a detected face does not correspond to a registered DöpplGrid account, that data is permanently deleted immediately following processing and is not stored. Registered users may proactively search, using their own previously-enrolled biometric identifier, to check whether they appear in photos uploaded to the network. Any potential match must be affirmatively confirmed by that user before any tag, link, or profile association is created. No photo will be linked to your identity, and you will not be notified of a potential match, without your own action to search for and confirm it.
8. International Data Transfers. DöpplGrid's infrastructure is hosted in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.
9. Cookies & Analytics (Web). Our website may use cookies and similar tracking technologies, as well as analytics services (including Firebase Analytics), to understand usage patterns and improve the Service. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may limit certain features of the website.
DöpplGrid strictly prohibits the upload, sharing, or distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and any content that exploits, harms, or endangers children (CSAE). We operate under a strict zero-tolerance policy. Any user found sharing or facilitating such content will be immediately and permanently banned from the platform.
In compliance with federal and international regulations, all account details associated with offending users, along with the media content itself, will be preserved and aggressively reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and all relevant law enforcement authorities.
Users have the ability to flag and report suspected content or behaviors directly within the app. Alternatively, concerns and violations can be emailed directly to our safety and compliance monitoring team at support@dopplgrid.com.
